Girls Flag Football is one of the fastest growing high school sports in the country. In 2025, 51 MN high schools participated statewide, with 104 programs participating in the 2026 season.
Wayzata is building a competitive, inclusive program for athletes who want to move fast, think smart, and compete together.
WHAT IS GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL?
A non-contact, fast-paced version of football focused on speed, strategy, teamwork, and confidence. No tackling. All skill. All heart.

Who should play/Eligibility
- High school athletes (Grades 9–12)
- Serious middle school athletes welcome
- Ideal for multi-sport athletes (soccer, basketball, lacrosse, track, volleyball, softball, hockey)
- No football experience required
When
Season: Early March – June 7
No mandatory practices over spring break
Practices
Practices: Wednesday & Sunday evenings (outside traditional high school sport times)
Tryouts: Held during the first week(s) of practice
Games
Regular Season Games: Sunday Double-Headers — April 26; May 3, 10, & 17
Playoffs: May 31
State Championship: June 7
Jerseys
Jerseys, shorts and flags are included in the registration cost.
Jerseys/shorts will be returned at the end of the season.
